Privacy policy

We rely on the following legal bases under the NDPA: performing our contract with you (making your videos and running your account), our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and improving it), your consent (marketing emails, and showcasing your videos as described below) and legal obligations (financial and tax records).

Your photos, your videos and AI

Contease uses AI models to turn your photos into video. To do that, your photos, the details of each shot and any voiceover script are sent to the AI providers listed below, which process them only to produce your content.

• No training: we never use your photos or videos to train AI models, and our AI providers do not use them to train theirs.
• Your property stays your property: each shot is built from your own photo of that space.
• Showcasing your work: we only feature a customer's video in our own marketing (for example on our website or social media) after asking you directly, by message or email, and getting your permission.

Who we share information with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run Contease, and only what each one needs:

These providers are bound by contract to protect your information and use it only to provide their service to us.

We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy continues to protect your information.

We never sell your personal information.

Shared videos

Your videos are private to your account. When you share a video, it gets its own link that anyone who has it can open and watch. Shared video pages are marked so search engines don't list them. You can stop sharing at any time, and the link stops working.

Where your information is stored

Contease's servers and files are in the United States (Amazon Web Services, US East). Some of our providers process information in other countries too. When your information leaves Nigeria, we rely on the safeguards the NDPA requires, such as contracts that protect your information to the same standard.

How long we keep your information

• Your videos stay available in your account for as long as you have it, including after you cancel a plan.
• Your account information is kept while your account is open.
• Payment and billing records are kept for as long as Nigerian tax and accounting law requires.
• Backups of our database are kept for 14 days and then deleted.

When you close your account, it is deactivated straight away and you can no longer sign in. To have your personal information deleted after closing, email [email protected] and we will delete it, except anything we must keep by law.

Your rights

Under the NDPA, and depending on where you live, you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• have inaccurate information corrected;
• have your information deleted;
• object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
• receive your information in a portable format;
• withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), or to the data protection authority where you live.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie that keeps you signed in. Without it, the app can't work, so it doesn't need your consent. We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent first.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, encrypted passwords, private file storage that is only reachable through our app, and access limited to the people who need it to run Contease. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else, and tell us straight away if you think your account has been accessed without your permission.

Children

Contease is for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Contease changes. When we do, we'll change the date at the top, and if the change is significant we'll tell you by email before it takes effect.
